Hi guys,
I'll explain my problem a little more. It's a little complex so bare with me! I have a GoPro on which I've replaced the stock lens with a 4.35mm rectilinear one. It all works great, but the problem is that the GoPro firmware applies a lens correction profile which gives the footage from the new lens a pinkish vignette in the corners. I've created a jpg overlay which I can drop over the clip which fixes the pink vignette (Blend mode of the jpg set to overlay). It essentially brightens the corners and counteracts the pink tint with a green one. See image below.
This is all fantastic - but the problem is, when I grade the footage with the overlay above it, the overlay doesn't work quite as well because the colours and tonality in the original clip have changed. So the only way around this is to grade each clip using an adjustment layer on the track above the overlay. At this point it's just becoming a really stupid and annoying part of my workflow because for each clip, I've got 3 tracks occupied. One for the clip, one for the overlay and one for the grade, when really I should be able to do it all in one. Not only that, but I actually need a 4th track as well, containing black video, which goes underneath all of the others. Because otherwise when I fade the gopro footage, the grey overlay appears. It's just getting a bit silly hahaha.
So what I'm looking for is an effect which I can drop onto my gopro clips, which allows me to overlay the JPG that I've made on each individual clip, thus allowing me to add the grading plugins on top of that, all within the individual clip.
It seems to me that it would be quite a simple plugin but I'm not sure if one exists out there somewhere or not?
Any help would be hugely appreciated! It's quite a simple effect plugin that I'm after but to solve a fairly complex annoying problem!
I've attached some image to show what I'm trying to do:
